Farmetrics Prediction Market Announces Winners

The Farmetrics Prediction Market, which offers participants an innovative way to gain critical information on planted acreage, yield and harvested acreage for a variety of crops, announced the winners for its contests.

Winners were determined by the number of Reward Points they accumulated, which are awarded based on the accuracy of the participants' predictions versus the United States Department of Agriculture results for the year. Throughout 2008 participants made weekly predictions based on the county they selected. Each county offered contests relative to crops produced in the area and the specific crop season. New contests began each week, during which time all predictions from the previous week were aggregated and shared, providing participants with an overview of other predictions made in that specific county and across the country.

"2008 was a very successful year for participants in the Farmetrics Prediction Market," said Dan Erz, Farmetrics representative and Grain Marketing Specialist for Bunge North America. "For the 2008 contests, we awarded Farmetrics participants with nearly 5 million Reward Points. The information shared in Farmetrics is valuable to the participants and Bunge alike. The exchange of insight benefits both parties, and the participants have an added incentive to win these award cards that can be used to purchase a wide variety of goods and services."
